Vilnius and Riga , without photos

Well after days of mucking about with this bolg, uninstalling app, reinstalling app, both Knud and I getting more and more irritated with it I think I may have found what the problem is, it wont load my photos. How absolutely annoying to put it mildly. I have some fabulous photos if I don't say so myself, maybe I will have to explore the world of Instagram?
So just a quick recap on what we have been up to.
Saturday we went on an Alternate Tour of Vilnius, fantastic. Got to see areas of Vilnius that we would never have found ourselves, what a pity you can't see the photos of the dirt, potholded streets, wooden buildings all within 500mt of the skyscrappers. Some more great street art also . A 4mt high fibre glass statue of Tony Soprano standing on Vilnius railway station is a sight to see.
Sunday, Vilnius Marathon being held, so our walk to the bus station was going against a wave of runners heading down to the start. A pleasant 4 hour bus trip and we arrived in Riga, Latvia. Riga Marathon was just finishing as we arrived.
Riga, wow what a beautiful vibrant city. Staying in the Old City area, what a buzz. Spent the afternoon exploring, taking heaps of photos ,which looks like you wont be able to see, don't want to rub it in .
Riga is capital of Latvia, began as a German town in 1201 the Swedes took over in 1621 and it became the largest city in Swedish empire. , then the Russians took over Latvia from the Swedes , added industry to the area so by mid 1800's Riga was Russias third largest city after Moscow & St Petersburg. 20th century it was all go with cafés, dance halls, thriving intellectual culture all with a Latvian influence. Finally in 1918 Latvia got independence, short lived of course, the Russians were back in 1940, they hung about till 1991 and finally they are free again.
Took heaps of great photos on our walking tour yesterday, a very interesting and knowledgeable guide so lots of great background info.
This morning we were walking in the Alberta lela , the main area for Art Nouveau architecture, beautiful.
This afternoon we were at the Riga Motor Museum, I know you may be surprised I would voluntary go to a car museum but it was actually really really good.
So tomorrow we head to Estonia.

  2. I had the same problem in Mexico earlier this year which is why I changed apps. Try Blogo. I have been LOVING your photos, so hope you get it sorted. I suspect it is something to do with the Internet service ...
