What a day. It all sounded so simple in the planning. We would catch a train from Malchow to Munich. Trains for 4 people plus 1 bike booked 3 months ago.
An early start, 15minute walk to Malchow station, the 7 am train to Warren on time, next train from Warren to Leipzig at 8am also arrived on time. From there it went downhill. Arrived to Leipzig 10 min late, not good if you have 9 min between trains, missed the connection to Hof by a matter of seconds. Knud off to the DB office to see what we could do, " no problems, here is a new itinerary " ok it involved a different route but they did give us a print out of trains, where we had to change etc . So quick shop for lunch stuff, race to new platform, next train arrives, off we go. Get to Zwickau, time to change train, oh looks like next train delayed, first 20 min, the 50 then 90 min , shit now we have missed the next lot of connections, Knud back to DB office another new itinerary another list of trains, quick new train goes in 1 min so run with backpack up and down steps, thank goodness for those pump classes. Trains getting smaller, stations getting smaller. Where the hell are we ? Finally after another 3 trains we get to Hof. Train to Munich cancelled because of yet another problem so its every man for himself as we battle our way onto an ICE train to Innsbruck that is stopping in Munich. Spent the first hour standing but at ,least we got onto the train, unlike poor Knud who was not allowed on with his bike so he had to catch a regional train, arriving hours latter.
Zwickau station
Lyn using the waiting time in a productive manner, doing knee strengthening exercises
No bloody idea where we are now, somewhere remote off the beaten track
