Templin
Said our farewells to Graham, he has a time deadline to be reaching Warren by middle of week, we have some time up our sleeve so decided to do a little side trip to Templin. A few small canals connecting some lakes about 11km all up from main canal. Water levels later in the season could make this tricky to navigate so thought we should do it now.
Got into Templin yesterday afternoon, and what a gorgeous town, glad we made the detour. Templin's claim to fame is that this is where Angela Merkell grew up. A walled town, wall dates from 13th century, and intact! ( must have been some restoration work done over the years) Wall is 1735 mt long and between 6 & 7 mt high. Numerous gates around the perimeter adding to its charm
Plan to spend a couple of days here, strong winds forcast , some rain and storms, Knud keen to get some training in for Italy too, weather permitting .

Potsdam to Spandau to Obere Havel
A wondrrful surprise, friend from last year, Graham had just arrived back to Potsdam, he will be cruising up the same direction as us so we planned to catch up along the way.
Potsdam to Spandau , stopped for the night. Our mooring close to IKEA so a shopping trip planned . Came back ladden with 3 outdoor chairs, 3 cushions, 2 doonas, 2 door mats, assorted light fittings, fry pan . All strapped onto the bikes, felt like I should have been in Asia.
A dream run from Spandau to Burgwall , locks ready and waiting for us, how luvky were we! Graham coming through a day latter had a 3 hour wait at one!
Had 2 nights at Burgwall, Graham stopping there as well , a great time catching up.

Germany Werder to Potsdam
Arrived back to Linquenda in Brandenburg Plaue Sunday 15th May. The old girl looking good and most importantly still floating. A busy few days getting tarps off, supplies in, water tanks filled, engine ticking over and flowers into flower boxes. Had arrived back in the middle of a long weekend, shops which are always shut on Sundays also shut for the Monday of a long weekend! Fortunately had a few weird supplies in supply cupboard so managed until Tuesday, fell upon the fresh fruit and veg like a woman possessed Tuesday morning. Had arrived back to Germany with cool weather, hesters on for first few days.
Can't have a barge without flowers.
We left home port Wednesday 18th and made our way slowly up the Havel River towards Werder, a favourite stopping place.
Some members of Team Linquenda thrilled with the Classic Car show in Werder .
Summer arrived all of a sudden, temps shot up to high 20's, first fat naked German spotted swimming ( sorry no photo) Australia the blow fly is the indicator of summers arrival, here its the naked swimmers.
Our frieds Tove & Niels arrived from Denmark to spend a few days with us. A refreshing beer enjoyed ( actually a few were enjoyed) A lovely time spent together , we cruised up to Potsdam with them.
A cycle/walk through Sanssouci Park in Potsdam. Acres of parkland and palaces. Chinese pavilion in the background.

Denmark
Well dear readers we are back on air, after much nashing of teeth finally got the blog working on this new tablet.
So a quick recap on the first 2 weeks away.
Had a wonderful time in Denmark catching up with family and friends. Made the mistake of taking photos with the phone so can't attach them to this blog, maybe a blog can be done from the phone? don't hold your breath though. Did remember however to start taking photos on the tablet so here a a few.
Knud and his mum Helga
To be in Denmark in spring time is truly special. From one day to the next you can see the trees turning green, magical.
