Postcards

Just a couple more photos, sorry about so many separate blogs but whole blog thing cracks the shits if too many photos go up at once.

colourful wheels and tyres

shopping mall that we walked through to get to Marina Bay Sands to get to access walkways to Gardens by the Bay. Don't think photo picks up the little canal and row boats very well , but let me assure you they are there.

Supertrees, Gardens by the Bay

Last stop for the day, the Supertrees, these are manmade trees with the 22mt high OCBC Skyway linking them. Night began to fall , the structures lit up and Singapore lit up too.

Marina Bay Sands

Cloud Forest Gardens by the Bay

Next dome to visit was the Cloud Forest. This explores the highlands, orchids, tree ferns. A giant 35mt man made waterfall and mountain dominates .

gorgeous orchids everywhere

Flower Dome , Gardens by the Bay

After a wander around some of the outside gardens it was time to go into the Garden Dome. Plants from all over the world kept in a temperature controlled environment.

Finally. A Grape Tree

Gardens by the Bay

A trip to Singapore not complete without a visit to these amazing gardens.
To arrive at gardens one approaches via overpasses

Singapore

A brief three day stopover on the way back to Albury.
Arrived to a thick smoky haze, never seen Singapore this bad, all courtesy of fires up in Indonesian

Istanbul, final day

Sunday, our final full day, so a lot to fit in.
Blue Mosque in the sunshine

We walked and walked, a couple of wrong turns at the beginning saw a few extra kms added. Finally we got to the underground Funicular and caught it up to the well known and very frequented pedestrian shopping street that stretches for a couple of kms.

The big wheel of the funicular

iconic tram that runs the length of the street

instead of a chocolate fountain this is a baklava, dripping honey, fountain

get a load of this for a police riot vehicle. Particularly disturbing is the scoop thing attached to the front.

Postcards of Istanbul , Today's Characters

Clean shoes, again

Our Turkish Delight and coffee guy. Turkish men love Knud's hat, had lots of offers to swap it.

Balancing act, guy selling Simit, this is a Turkish bread looks a little like a bagel and had sesame seeds

this guy selling tea, haming it up for the camera. Turks have a great sense of humour.

Boat tour along the Bosporus

Before we made out way down to catch the ferry it was time to get a Doner Kebab. Can you believe its the first one for this trip. Actually really quite odd , had chips and pickles in it.

We took a hour and half ferry trip out along the Bosphorus, sun had come out by this stage so city looking extra gorgeous
