Rich Farming Country
Have been blown away with how beautiful this area is. As far as farming area goes one would be pushed to find anything richer. ( certainly the fact it is volcanic would have a bit to do with it) Lots of green rolling hills with very healthy live stock roaming, beautiful bushes ,flowers etc
This area had a large number of Germans settling here in the 1850's , the architecture bearing testament to this.
(wooden shingles abound)
Always not far away is 'our' Volcano Osorno , we can never grow tired of it.

The past couple of days
A couple of nights at El Taique, went off and explored some more lakes and volcanoes, climbed up to Crater Raihue then on up a little further to get to viewpoint to look back over to more volcanoes, lots of low cloud limited our view but nevertheless breathtaking.
Today we had a easy drive to Puerto Octay, plan 2nights here at a lovely hostel.
Finally good internet connection so can get blog sent
Rustic bridges ( written 10th Dec but not published because of poor internet)
Well the problem with staying at Fox Hill is that we have to leave. Have already extended our stay by one night but cannot change our plans any further so reluctantly we have to make our farewells. Our stay here has been the best so far, the food amazing ( spoilt with organic home grown veg) and Irene and Jim have made us feel so at home its hard to leave.
So off we set, skirting Lago Llanquihue, quick stop at Largo Verde then onto see the waterfall, Las Cascadas , up a dirt track then a hike off up over an assortment of the most rustic bridges imaginable. Felt like we in real Indiana Jones country.
A drive further on for a hour or two until we came to our next nights accommodation, set in the hills with more stunning g views of volcanoes and this time Lago Puyehue.

Sunday 8th
First of all a correction for yesterdays entry, its not Puyehue that we can see but Volcano Osorno .
Today spent hiking in the National Park Vincent Perez Rosales, first through the forest then cutting down to walk back along the foreshore of Lago Todas los Santos. Great views of Osorno. Volcanic Osorno is 2652 my high so predominates the landscape. Posting a few pictures of an amazing tree that we came across on our walk along the lake foreshore. Appears to have an extra root system that gives an 'umbrella' effect.
