Well after an amazing explore of Pergamon we headed down the hill to check out Bergama.

What a great idea, seats that fold up automatically , would be a good idea in a place with lots of rain









Do love the carpet shops but have to be so careful not to make eye contact.

Another Great Day part 1

A wonderful stay at Kozbeyli Hotel, fantastic bed and room , gorgeous staff, amazing food.

We set off along the coast then turned inland to Bergama, Pergamon ruins nearby, could we handle more, oh well may as well we are here after all. Oh wow so glad we did. Amazing. Dating from 5th century, BC, crowds not here so that was even better

27th. September

Got a great deal at a see side resort on the Med just down from Didem, so 2 nights there. Chilled out, swam, read, lovely, though the mozzies did drive us nuts.
A early start today as we were going to visit Ephesus. Got out to the car to find the back window shattered. No we hadn't been broken into, goodness knows what caused it but it certainly delayed us. Contacted hire car company, they were not much help, being Sunday and last day of extended holiday didn't help either.

Finally we got going, made a few stops along the way to see if anything could be done but no luck.
Arrived to Ephesus, wow what a change since I was here 38years ago. Wall to wall people everywhere.







Got back to our car to find the lovely parking attendant had put wide clear tape across the back. Knud helped h to add a few more rows, fantastic a whole lot better. We have found the Turks such a friendly and helpful people.



Continued on to Foca, busy seaside port



Then up into the hills to find our hotel for the night. What a view from the terrace.

25th September

Another day with stunning scenery

Kas to Daylan 24th September

Followed more stunning coastline

This coast rivals the Great Ocean Road

Our next stop was Letoon, more ancient ruins, these dating from 5th century BC




Lunchtime stop was at Kayakoy. An amazing abandoned Greek village. Area had been inhabited from 3000 years BC in latter part of 19th century about 400 stone houses built by the local Greek population. In 1924 when Turkey became a republic all Greeks were expelled from Turkey and sent to Greece, even though most had been living in Turkey for many hundreds of years, the same happened to Turks living in Greece. Far more Greeks than Turks so as a result many abandoned buildings.

Along the coast to Kas 23rd September

Out of the maze of old town Antalya, first stop a waterfall on the outskirts of Antalya , told not to miss it and with all the recent rain expected something impressive, best not to get ones hopes up we discovered


Drove down the coast heading in a south westerly directions. Passed through some depressing tacky development then wow . Coast line is magnificent, difficult to get good photos as no stopping places and road fairly narrow and Turkish drivers a law unto themselves.





Our next stop Myra, more ruins, these dating from 5th century BC, these ruins on the tourist trail so had to share them with lots others. St Nicholas was s Bishop here. Nevertheless they are very impressive.







Continued along to Kas, finally found a hotel after a bit of difficulty, turns out a 5 day Muslim holiday began today so everyone on holidays. Got a place overlooking the water, gorgeous sunset.
