Freycinet Experience Walk continued

Day 4
Our last day so lots to fit in.
First an early morning swim down on the beach with coffee and fruit toast served on the beach. Some also fitted in a bit of yoga.

Pam discovered that sitting on her backpack with a fruit box drink in it was not a good idea.

next activity was 'Georges Walk' here Jane was gracefully removing spider webs that crossed the path
a fabulous brunch
almost ready to leave
Pam
Our beautiful Friendly Beach , we continued walking up to the end of the beach where we we picked up by our bus
our traditional foot photo

So all too soon our fantastic 4 days were over, cannot recommend Freycinet Experience Walk yours highly enough.
So thanks to my wonderful companions, looking forward to next year already.

Karl doing the recap for day and next days activities

Freycinet Experience Walk

Four days hiking and glam camping with 9 gorgeous girlfriends, how lucky we are. What a fantastic time, ran out of superlatives.
Day 1
Mel and I met up with, Marien, Jane, Liz, Kate, Prue, Judith, Pam, Anne plus our 2 guides Gen and Karl just south of Swansea at Spikey Bridge, they had all departed Hobart earlier that morning.
Spikey Bridge
sent Knud & Paul on their way, they had another few days cycling before catching the ferry back

We continued on to Cole Bay, here we met with our boat that was to take up to Schouten Island, however a change of plans as winds too strong and sea too rough so we ended up being dropped off at the northern end of Hazards Beach.
The morning catch of crayfish, some happy fishermen that day
on Hazards Beach
our boat
our lunch, delicious
We left our beautiful lunch stop and began our 7km walk back around the coast to the car park at entrance to Freycinet National Park, here we were picked up by the lodge bus and transported back to our accommodation at Friendly Beaches Lodge. Eco lodge, nestled in the bush not far from Friendly Beach. Met our 'lodgies' Jemma and Dan, they ran the lodge and did the cooking and what a fantastic job they did. Beautiful fish dinner and birthday cake for Marian. I wonder if she got tired of us singing Happy Birthday?

Day 2

Two options today, Coastal walk or a hike up Mt Graham. Pam and Marian opted for the mountain climb the rest off us for the Coastal walk. Off to Cole Bay, onto our boat, seas still a bit rough
Pam and Marian, dropped off at Cooks Beach and set off with Karl for a tough day of climbing. The rest of us with Gen got dropped off at Bryans Beach.

After crossing through bush we came out to Cooks beach, continued along beach then into bush again
Our lunchtime stop, how beautiful was this! Called My beach, perfect place for a swim, a tad bracing, very refreshing
drying the swimmers before setting off for rest of hike
Through more bush then onto Hazards Beach, wind picked up and we were sand blasted. Up to northern end of Hazards then across the isthmus onto Wine Glass Bay. Interesting aside, Wine Glass Bay got its name from not only looking like the shape of a wine glass but also from all the blood that was in the water from the whaling station that was also situated here. It was here we were to wait for Marian, Pam and Karl to rejoin the group.
local wallaby took a particular liking to Jane, even began licking her!
Our intrepid hikers rejoin us , from here we all hiked up out of Wine Glass Bay, stopped by the Wine Glass Bay lookout then back down to the carpark ready to be driven back to the lodge, all pleasantly tired after a 17km hike.

Postcards of Freycinet

Two nights at Swansea staying at Meridith House, breakfast to die for, all felt we were in a food coma by the time we finished so a couple of walks planned in Freycinet National Park.
Freycinet National Park established in 1916, one of two of the first NP in Tassie ( other was Mt Field)
Although Mel & I spending this coming week based in FNP hiking we thought it would be nice for Knud & Paul to see a bit of it too so we drove out to the Cole Bay end of the park and hiked up to the Wine Bay lookout. Overcast so photo quality not the best for distance shots but my fixation for tree trunks with interesting bark was fulfilled.

Then a walk out to Cape Tourville and lighthouse

a walk down to Sleepy Bay

Then fresh seafood lunch

A wine tasting at Freycinet Wines, one of Pauls favourite winery's
