Update

snowing overnight in Narvik and still snowing on way to airport at 4.30 in the morning
BUGA the national flower show held every two years. This year its being held in the Havel Brandenburg area. The streets of Brandenburg decorated with beautiful floral tributes.

Had a good trip from northern Norway to Brandenburg Plaue, almost 13 hours door to door, lft Narvik with it snowing and arrived in Berlin to rain & 8° , its only gotten better from there.
Had a busy morning Wednesday, then early afternoon we were ready to start cruising. Have moved 16km up the Havel river to Bahnitz, a tiny village where we plan to spend a few days. A 20km cycle into Brandenburg today to sort internet. The promised rain so far not materialised.

A day in Narvik

A lovely day pottering about, previous couple of days sunny but easterly breeze so cold, today overcast and then in afternoon tending to light snow showers then to sleet and latter drizzle. Tomorrow I head back down south to Brandenburg Plaue 100km west of Berlin to where Knud & Linquenda are.

To Sweden for the day

View from train window .

Looks like blog will only let me put one picture each post, as soon as I load the next photo previous one disappears, making me very unlady like.
So anyway back to the story, as Kaj was working Sunday I decided to take the very scenic train trip up over the Swedish border to one of the most northern towns in Sweden, Abisko. This is a small place, has a pub a supermarket and some houses, but this was "the journey not the destination" type trip.
A stunning train trip, following the Narvik fjord , from a great height, then through beautiful mountains, passing great skiing areas. Swedish border is only about 47 km from Narvik Abisko about 85km .Train trip took about one hour & 45min. Took heaps of photos but at this stage I'm the only one who can see them. Will have to work on this.

Narvilk

view from plane after leaving Oslo

Ok think maybe I have cracked the code, needless to say the blog is not behaving, text disappearing if put in before photos so we will see how this goes.

Had a good flight to Frankfurt, it was here that Knud and I split, Knud to do the 4 minute mile to catch his connecting flight to Berlin and I had a leisurely 5 hours to do passport control, customs ( why do they bother never anyone to check anything) collect bag, customs check again then go back into the terminal , find book in counter, book onto flight to Oslo, get rid of bag then do security check etc and finally find my gate, sit down and try to stay awake. Good flight to Oslo then because I was coming from the EU and Norway not part of EU had to then retrieve bag go through customs, security then book bags back in to Evenes then just for a change another security check!
As we headed further north more snow visible, and as a welcoming gesture a short sharp hail/ snow flurry as we got off the plane in Evenes, great.
A hour and half bus trip into Narvik and finally there was Kaj waiting for me at bus stop! Goes without saying fantastic to see him , especially looking so we'll and happy.
